Symbolic sign

A

a sign or image where an associated meaning is drawn from some shared degree of knowledge. The way that we make the association between these images and their symbolic meaning is always bound by some cultural, social or cognitive convention. Signs often make use of colours that are strongly associative. Text producers use this general knowledge, expecting them to be understood by readers
