Q

What are frequency tables?

A

Used to display raw data that is easy to understand and interpret. It tells how often a certain score occurred in given set of scores. If we conducted a test on memory to see how many items out of 15 our 30 participants could recall, these scores might come up:9,8,3,3,3,3,2,5,4,10,11,5,6,8
Showing that frequency table is easier to understand than a list of numbers. Also easy way to help calculate descriptive statistics.
Most common central tendency used is mode

Q

What are line graphs?

A

Used to present relationships between quantitative variables when the IV has a relatively small number of distinct levels. Each point on line graph represents mean score of DV for participants at one level of the IV.
Used with interval and ratio data. Used to show data that changes continuously over time and allows to see trends such as increase or decrease in data over time

Q

What are histograms?

A

Histograms deal with continuous data unlike bar chart that deals with nominal data. The straight line is a scale of something, like length or mass. Also can be used in ordinal data but data has to be put in order.
