Grammar
young children are more likely to use simple, shorter, grammatically incomplete sentences. Older children will demonstrate variety, incorporate both simple & complex conjunctions with more grammatically complex sentences.

they can only repeat active sentences
The inversion rule
‘he is sad’ becomes ‘is he sad?’
Virtuous error
a mistake that has an underlying logic, showing that learning has taken place. Can link to morphemes.
