Zero conditional
If+present tense, present tense
If you heat water to 100, it boils.
Water boils if you heat it to 100.
Second conditional
If+ past, would/n’t + verb
If I invested my money, it would grow.
My money would grow if I invested it.
Third conditional
If+ past perfect, would/n’t have+ past participle
If you had asked me, I would have done it.
I would have done it if you had asked me.
If the people of tehran had used public transport, they wouldn’t have had such a polluted air.
Mixed conditional1
If + past simple, would/ n’t have+ past participle
If I was sensible, I would have saved more.
Mixed conditional 2
If + past continuous, would/ n’t + verb
If I was going on holiday soon, I would be happy.
If the people of tehran were using public transport, they wouldnt have such a polluted air.
Conditional example
If it had not been for your advice, I would have made the wrong decision.
Present perfect simple
Have/ has + past p She has started the assignment. I haven't started the assignment. Have you started the assignment? او تكليفش را شروع كرده است. Have you written your assignment yet? I have read six articles this week.
Present perfect continuous
Have/ has been + verb + ing
I have been studying really good.
He has not been studying really hard.
Have you been studying really hard?
I have been feeling good since I started this course.
I have been working as a consultant since 2011.
This is the first time I have ever had to write such a story.
Is this the first time you have travelled abroad?
Past perfect simple
Had + past participle
They had listened to his music.
آنها به موسيقي اش گوش كرده بودند.
They had not listened to his music.
Had they listened to his music?
His father was a composer and his grandfather had also been a musician.
By the time he was six, he had written a composition of his own.
Past perfect continuous
Had been+ verb + ing
She had been studying for years.
He had not been studying for long.
Had you been studying for long?
Future perfect continuous
Will have been + verb+ ing
By the end of the month I’ll have been working here for three years.
I have been working there since 2011. To be precise, by the end of this december, I will have been working here for 3 years.
