A

Inflection is the upward or downward glide of the voice, within pitch,
on any word or phrase

A

is used to ask a question requiring a yes or no answer, to convey doubt and in unfinished phrases.
E.G.: “Are you going out?”
Or “I think I left it over there…”

A

is used in questions expressed by interrogatives such as ‘who’, ‘what’, ‘where’ and ‘when’, in commands and at the end of a thought.

A

The Ballad is a narrative poem that is sometimes set to music. It will often have a very distinctive structure of quatrains (4 lines to a stanza) and a strong rhyming pattern.

A

Vowel sounds that have one shaping in the mouth.
E.G~ The A sound in ‘mad’
The EE sound in ‘leaves’

What is a diphthong?

A

Sounds that have two shapings in the mouth that blend into one.
There are three types. The Pure diphthongs made of a long and a short vowel sound
E.G~ The EW sound in ‘new’ (EE + OO)

The vanish diphthong made up of two short vowel sounds
E.G~ The AY sound in ‘play’ ( E + I )

And the murmur diphthongs made of a monophthong plus the neutral vowel
E.G~ The AIR sound in ‘pair’ or ‘pear’ ( E + UH )

What is a triphthong?

A

These are sounds that have three shapings in the
mouth that blend into one. They are made up of a Principle Diphthong
plus the neutral vowel.
E.G~ The IRE sound in ‘fire’ (AH + I + UH)

A

It is and indefinate sound, a little bit like ‘uh’. It is an
unstressed vowel sound.
E.G~ to is (tuh) ‘I go tUH town’
