What is primary data? Give two examples.

A

Data that is obtained directly from the source for a specific purpose (fieldwork)

E.g. Aerial photographs, satellite images

What is attribute data?

A

Descriptive data. It refers to characteristics of a feature.

E.g. A river: it has a specific direction, velocity, flows over uneven ground, has a name, is in a particular stage, meanders etc.

What is spatial data?

A

This identifies location of features. It is stored as co-ordinates and can be mapped.

What is line data? Give examples

A

An individual circuit or line that carries data in a computer or communication channel

E.g. A road, contour line, river, farm boundary, power lines, row of trees, hiking trail (remember to be specific, e.g. The N2 Freeway)

A

This is data that has three or more sides so it has a shape

A

Consists of pixels of information

A

Stores data as points,lines and polygons. It is useful for storing specific data like country borders and streets
