Isaiah 64:6 - All our righteous acts are like filthy rags
Romans 3:23 - All have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory
Matthew 5:20, 48 - Our righteousness must exceed even the most righteous of religious people to enter the Kingdom. God’s standard is perfection.
Verses about what we deserve
Isaiah 59:2 - Sins separate from God
Romans 6:23 - The wages of sin is death
John 3:36 - “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”
Revelation 20:14-15, 21:8 - Those who do not believe are thrown into the lake of fire.
Verses about salvation
John 3:16-17 - God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever BELIEVES will not perish but have eternal life.
John 5:24 - Whoever BELIEVES crosses over from death to life
John 6:47 - He who BELIEVES has eternal life.
John 11:25 - “I am the resurrection and the life; he who BELIEVES in Me will live even if he dies.”
Ephesians 2 - The whole chapter covers the gospel beautifully, from our lostness to our salvation to our unity and purpose in the body of Christ. Invite a nonbeliever to read through verses 1-10 with you and explain the incredible love of God and salvation by grace alone and faith in Jesus alone.
Titus 3:3-5 - We were once sinful but saved us not because of works done in righteousness but according to His mercy.
Versus about how we can be secure in our salvation
John 6:37-40 - No one who comes to Jesus will ever be cast out.
John 10:27-30 - No one can snatch the sheep from God’s hand
Romans 8:1, 8:38-39 - There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. Nothing can separate us from the love of God.
Philippians 1:6 - God will finish the good work He started in you
Our need for God
Matthew 11:25-30 - We can only know the Father when Jesus reveals Him to us, and Jesus invites all the weary and heavy laden to come to Him to find rest.
John 6:35 - Whoever comes to Jesus will not hunger and whoever believes in Him will never thirst.
John 7:37-39 - Whoever is thirsty (spiritually) can come to Jesus and drink and receive rivers of living water.
