Uniformed members of this Department shall not be assigned to any permanent limited duty/modified duty assignments. Limited duty assignments shall be used ONLY for what of the following conditions:a) Allowing members to recover from the temporary effects of illnesses, injuries, pregnancy, or post-traumatic incidents stress.
b) Preventing economic hardship to a member when the member has exhausted all payroll credits while awaiting a disability retirement decision.
c) Removing a member temporarily from full duty while medical questions of capability to perform dull duty are resolved.
d) Removing a member temporarily from full duty at the discretion of the Office of the Commissioner pending completion of an investigation of alleged misconduct by the member.

Limited/Modified duty shall not exceed 6 months except for which of the following:
a) When a member has applied for a disability retirement and limited duty was approved to prevent an economic hardship.
b) When an investigation for adverse action takes longer than six months.
c) The assignment is for an unusually urgent or compelling need of human charity or Department need.
d) When a member has applied for service retirement and is reducing their leave credits to the maximums or Department need.
