The purpose of the Meritorious Awards Review Board is to review all formal submissions and requests for employee awards. - Set the date for the monthly Board hearing;
- Ensure that all members of the Board are notified of the date, time, and place of the Board hearing; and
- Serve as a non-voting member except in the case of a tie vote by the remaining members of the Board. A majority voice vote is needed to approve a nomination before it is submitted to the Sheriff or designee.
Duties of the Meritorious Awards Review Board include:
- Ensuring that all nominations for awards are investigated fully to verify that the action to be commended is bonafide and documented;
- Receiving and evaluating all requests for medals, ribbons, commendations, and nominations for employees of the month and recommending appropriate action to the Sheriff;
- Reclassifying the requested award at the Board’s discretion; and
- Forwarding all recommendations to the Sheriff or designee who will have the final approval of all awards to be granted.
