A
- Only active against gram +ve bacteria, including MRSA
- Blocks cell wall synthesis by preventing cross linking of peptidoglycan chain (bactericidal)
- Narrow spec

Regular monitoring:
- Renal impairment
- High dose + long term
- Impaired hearing
