Q

What side effects occur with these drugs?

A

Pain and thrombophlebitis from vancomycin IV

Rapid-infusion of vancomycin can cause red man syndrome due to release of non-immune histamine. Causing a rash over the upper-body and hypotension

Immune-mediated allergy to glycopeptide antibiotics including delayed hypersensitivity

Can cause nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity

Rarely it neutropenia, thrombocytopenia and severe cutaneous adverse reactions
