Glycolysis Flashcards
Stage 1 - Glycolysis
in cytosol, use glucose to produce 2 ATP/2 NADH/2 pyruvate
Glycolysis steps 1&2&3
- glucose picks up P (from ATP), attaches to #6 to form glucose 6-phosphate
- # 1 C goes to form fructose 6-phosphate
- P from ATP attaches to #1 C of 6P to form fructose 1, 6-biphosphate
Glycolysis step 4
Fructose 1,6 phosphate splits in half to form 1 G3P+1 G3P (from 3C dihydroxyacetone phosphate)
Glycolysis step 5
G3P is oxidized( loses 2H) + phosphorylated (P from cytosol) to form 2 bi-PGA
- 2H combines w/NAD to form 2NADH
Glycolysis step 6
bi-PGA donate P to ADP to form 2 ATP and PGA (substrate level phosphorylation)
Glycolysis step 7
phosphate froup moves to center C, becomes PEP with a P
Glycolysis step 8
PEP donates P tp ADP to form 2 ATP, PEP becomes 3C pyruvate
Glycolysis END PRODUCTS
2 ATP net- added to tally of 38
2 NADH - goes to stage 3
2 pyruvate - goes to stage 2
Progress
2 ATP, still needs 36 ATP + 6CO2+6 H2O
