GLUTEAL TUBEROSITY of proximal femur.
(Deep distal parts of the muscle insert onto)

Inferior gluteal nerve

EXTENSOR of flexed femur at hip joint.
LATERALLY rotates thigh
ABDUCTS the thigh.
Lateral stabilizer of hip joint.

MEDIALLY ROTATES thigh.

Medial side of superior border of GREATER TROCHANTER of femur.
