Which environmental problems are there nowadays? Nowadays the most important environmental problems are global warming, ozone depletion, acid rain and the pollution of air, ground and seas. If I had to choose the most important I would choose global warming.

Climate change will have lots of impact on our planet, the main problem will be the melting of the polar ice caps, as a consequence the sea levels could rise up to 10 meters. It would be terrible for all the countries, especially Caribbean islands, Holland and similar countries. This countries will be flooded by the sea. Furthermore The Earth could suffer from long periods of drought and very heavy rains. So something has to be done to solve this terrible problem.

What can we do to reduce pollution? There are a lot of things that we could do to reduce pollution, for example, don’t waste electrical energy. It is crazy to spend all winter in T-shirts and also its crazy to spend all summer on long sleeve shirts! Another thing that we could do is to reduce, reuse and recycle our rubbish, use the public transport, buy local products, etc.

Who usually comes to the aid of people/animals when these environmental issues occur? When these environmental problems occur the police and the army usually help. On the other hand, in the third world it is impossible to have this kind of help. This is the reason why environmental disasters are worse in the third world than in the first-world.

What effects do these polluting gases have on the planet? The most dangerous gases for our planet are carbon dioxide and ozone. The first one is responsible for the global warming whose effect is the climate change. And the second one is responsible for the hole in the ozone layer, its primary effect is the increase in skin cancer.

Is it possible to remedy the situation quickly and why? Not, it isn’t. It is impossible to improve the situation quickly and the reason why this is impossible is because the carbon dioxide that was poured into the atmosphere takes between 30 and 40 years to reach the ozone layer, and then if we stop to pour CO2 into the atmosphere we will not notice anything until about 40 years.
