- primitive yolk sac
- fluid filled cavity bound by hypoblast cells and ecocoelomic membrance
- surrounds embryo throughout most of first trimester
- thought to be a liquid extension of the placents that acts as a reservoir of nutrients for the embryo

A

- study of microscopic organisms (bacteria, virused, fungi)

- calculates effectivness of patients blood clotting in time
- usually used with patients on blood thinners or anticoagulants or to est effectivness of warfarin

- higher the number the longer it takes for blood to clot

what is lidocaine with epinephrine?
A
- lidocaine is a local anesthetic and epinepherine is a hormone (adrenaline)
- addition of epinephrine to idocaine prolongs suration of anesthesia
- lasts 3 hrs
- usually 1% lidocaine
- epinepherine is one of the most widely used vasoconstrictor agents

when is tenaculum?
A
- surgical instrument, type of forceps
- grasps cervix
- consists of a slender, sharp-pointed hook attached to a handle and used mainly in surgery
- used for stabilization of the cervix and decreased flexion of the uterus to ease passage of instruments into endo cavity

vesopressors?
A
- group of medications that contract blood vessels and raise BP
examples:
- norepinephrine, epinepherine, phenylephrine, vasopressin

vasovagal?
A
- temporary drop in BP with pallor
- fainting, sweating, nausea
- caused by overactivity of vagus nerve and occurs when you faint
- AKA nerocardiogenic synscope
