J-Box (Junction Box)
An electrical enclosure containing mechanical connections of wire.
Receptacles
Power sources located throughout a building to provide electricity where needed. (Also referred to as outlets)
SealTite
An outdoor rated flexible electrical conduit
Wire
A bare or insulated length of a conductor
Wire Gauge
A system sizing of wire by the wire diameter starting at 000 as the largest to 40 as the smallest size.
Wiring
A distributing network of wire that will conduct electricity to one or more receptacles, switches, and appliances throughout a home or office to provide electricity where needed
Angle of Lag or Lead
Phase angle by which quantities of current and voltage follow one another
Apparent Power
The product of applied voltage and current in a circuit that has capacitance or induction
Back EMF
Electromotive force that induced in the start winding of a split phase motor when the start winding is “ de-energized.
Brake Horsepower
Actual power output of a motor at full load
