Q

What is the glomerulus?

A
  • Glomerulus receives branches that come from the renal artery
  • Afferent arteriole- going towards
  • Efferent arteriole- going away
  • Main site of filtration- takes blood and turn it into filtrate
  • Leaks fluid out

Q

What do vessels in the glomerulus include?

A
  • Have red blood cells, white blood cells, big proteins (does not leak), sodium ions, amino acids. glucose
  • Big proteins, blood cells, platelets, white blood cells cannot leak out due to semi-permeable membrane between endothelial cells and the tubule- Basement membane
