Benefits of peritoneal dialysis?
A
- Continuous dialysis can control extra fluid easily
- Reduces stress on heart and blood vessels
- Able to eat more and use fewer medication
- Can do more daily activities and easier to work and travel

Negatives of peritoneal dialysis?
A
- Needs to be carried out everyday
- At risk of developing peritonitis (infection of thin membrane that lines abdomen)
- Dialysis fluid used can cause a reduction in protein levels, which can lead to lack of energy and malnutrition
- Weight gain

Benefits of haemodialysis?
A
- Involves a dialysis session three times a week
- Four days each week without the need to go to a medical clinic for dialysis (can be done at home)
- Recommended for people who are unable to carry out dialysis procedure themselves- due to impairment, dementia

Negatives of haemodialysis?
A
- Amount of fluid you drink and diet needs to be restricted (may be difficult to adjust)
- Makes activities easily
- Scarring
- Low blood pressure during treatments
- Cannot work due to travel and treatments
- Low blood pressure can cause a blood stream infection
