globalization
linkages between states, societies and economies are intensifying
process by which global connection grow increasingly and creates relationships between many people across vast distance
multinational corporations (MNCs)
firms that produce, distribute, and market their goods or services in more than pne country (apple)
nongovernmental organizations (NGOs)
national and international groups, independant of any state, that pursue policy objectives and foster public participation (greenpeace, red cross)
intergovernmental organizations (IGOs)
groups created by states to serve particular policy ends (united nations, european union)
international regime
regime that links states together through rules and norms that shape their relationships to one another
Bretton Woods system
global economic regime created in 1944 to manage international economic relations
foreign direct investment (FDI)
the purchase of assets in a country by a foreign firm
offshore outsourcing
process as a firm move some of its work to another place where it can be done more efficiently or cheaply
Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP)
main goal is to liberalize trade across a number of asian and latin american countries
