- Global village: world has become smaller, interconnectedness
- Communications quicker
- Flow of goods quicker

- Decreasing space between people and ideas
- Space no longer a barrier between transport and communications
- No longer have to depend on seasonality of food, can rely on imports
- Benifits some people
- Changes can feel “disturbing”, no longer feel at home (dislocation), too different
