Development of slums in suburbs because of shortage of housing.
Pressure on services.
Short supply of jobs so people turn to informal sector.
Lack of water and sanitation leads to increase diseases.

Air pollution.
River and lakes polluted by industries and sewage.
Slums cause deforestation and increased flood risk.
Pressure on resources such a water because of high demand.

Many HQs and TNC offices located in hubs therefore attracted skilled elites, favourable of government for economy.

Also construction workers from low wage areas attracted.

Host: -strain on jobs for locals -pressure on housing and services -loss of green land for more housing -cultural tensions Source: -loss of skilled workers -family break ups -mass immigration seen as a failure by governments.

Host: -low wages workers fill skill gaps. -migrants counteract ageing pop. Source: -remittances. -diff culture contact -reduced pressure on resources.

Global hubs are recognised for there influence not population.

Changing diets to more unhealthy (McDonald’s) raising obesity levels.
