- 80 storey factory building collapsed killing over 1000 people
- Built quickly to meet the rising demand of the world clothing industry
- The building closed as it was deemed unsafe, but was then reopened, however workers were reluctant as other buildings had been known to collapse
- Rana plaza arrangement fund was set up to provide compensation for surviviors and families of those that were killed
