TNC exploitation- plachimada coca-cola factory
in Plachimada, Kerala, India. soon after the factory opened, village wells ran dry due to water usage in the factory- shortages lead to serious illness. the factory provided local farmers with waste as fertiliser, containing many metals, eventually causing further illness
TNC exploitation- Bhopal disaster
a chemical accident where over 500,000 people located around a US- owned pesticide plant were exposed to a highly toxic gas, over 8000 died and many disabled were disabled. failure due to lack of safety procedures and understaffing
TNC exploitation- Rana Plaza, Bangladesh
In Bangladesh an 8-story Rana Plaza building collapsed killing over 1000 people. A large crack appeared the day before but warnings were ignored and workers were ordered to work the next day, many died. lack of regulation
TNC/government exploitation- Aral Sea crisis
the Aral Sea was home to many species, the Soviet Union began to take water from the tributaries for agricultural irrigation. the sea is now dry which exposes poisonous pesticides and carcinogenic dust- causing many deaths
