Why might historians want to study world history?
A
Offers a rounded historical background
Allows them to see a bigger picture and world networks - geopolitics, imperialism, globalisation.
To incorporate the history of marginalised groups
To spot and analyse trends and phenomena that may not be approached at a local level

Why might world history be limited?
A
Over-simplification - loss of nuances and differences that would not fit in a world history
Ethnocentrism - difficult to overcome using Europe as the centre and by using modern values to assess progress (e.g. democratic practices)
