Negative aspects of globalisation

❌Nearly 3000 reports sent to U.K. Law enforcement agencies relating to individual suspected of being involved in child sexual abuse.
❌objectification of women as they are sexualised online as well as viewing of violence against women. Ex partners may leak partners pictures online forming social control over women reinforcing patriarchy. Men are never prosecuted

• Hart suggests people rewrite their autobiographies on a daily basis reflecting their own values. Identity is now created online and offline e.g. Posting a picture on Facebook enables finding like minded people

• advancement of DC means that what is considered to be trendy fluctuates quickly. Snapchat is trendy now whereas a few years back MSN was trendy

• individuals can manage themselves online

A

Technological convergence: digitalisation has led to merging of different types of information e.g. Music, allowing it to be delivered across a range of different media platforms e.g. TV, laptops

Economic convergence: refers to the fact that media, computer once operated in separate spheres are now increasingly engaging in technological and economic alliances. Borders between these forms are now irrelevant

Cultural convergence : Members of society increasingly interacting with one another using DC on social media e.g. Facebook.
