What is food consumption?
This is the demand for food, how much food is used in one place
What is food insecurity?
When demand exceeds supply so a place is in deficit and is therefore food insecure
What is food supply?
This is the production of food, where it is being produced
What is food security ?
When supply exceeds demand so a place is in a food sulprus and therefore food secure
What is food balance?
The difference between consumption and supply
How does a global rise in population impact global food demand?
It means more people will require more food e.g. the global population is increasing and is expected to reach 9billion by 2040
How does economic development impact global food supply?
•economic development means countries are getting wealthier and therefore have more disposable income to spend on food. They often buy a greater variety of food and more than they need
•industrialisation of agriculture means some countries are able to produce more food at a lower cost therefore food becomes cheaper so people can afford to eat more
