Global Networks Flashcards
The term ‘Global Networks’ refers to what?
The links between different countries in the world. These have become much more widespread as a result of increasing technology.
These links include the flows of capital (money), traded goods and services, information and even (to a lesser extent) people.
Rich countries are well connected because:
They have the money to afford the technology
Companies install their networks in rich countries because there is a market there
How has connectivity been achieved? (two examples)
Telephones- instantaneous communications between countries
The internet- with the advent of broadband, large amounts of information can be moved quickly and efficiently through cyberspace. Again, has revolutionised the way in which businesses operate, allowing people to work from home and even in different countries.
