results from sudden opposition of the peripheral iris w the trabecular meshwork & leads to obstruction of canal of Schlemm through which aqueous humor drains out

Groups of drugs that induce sudden closure of the iris-corneal angle & can cause glaucoma

  1. mydriatics: anti-cholinergic druvs
  2. antidepressants: SSRIs

So Don’t ever use mydriatics in a patient with glaucoma!
