What is the treatment/drug pyramid for IBD
A
“AS IBS” - Jokes because it’s definitely not BUT that is the pyramid bottom to top:
A - Aminosalicylates (5ASA) - UC ONLY
S - Steroids - temp only, so only for induction of remission. Prednisolone 40mg
I - Immunomodulation - -purines, immune systems try to make you pure, purines, so azathiopurine. Maintenance only. If 5ASA not working and 2x steroids/year+
B - Biologics - Biology, Zoo, -Zumabs, Vedolizumab
S-Surgery
