what are filiform papillae

what are the fungiform papillae?
the bigger ones with a ‘lump’ like top, spread amongst the more abundant filiform ones.

which of the three main salivary glands has mainly serous glands and gives a watery secretion

from the glands to the oral cavity, what’s the order of the ducts?
intercalated -> striated -> excretory or interlobular
what are enterocytes?
the cells lining the small intestine, they are columnar and tall and absorptive. they have a striated border under the microscope
what are brunner’s glands and what do they do?
they are special to the proximal duodenum, they secrete ALKALINE mucus.
where are Goblet cells?
in the bases of the crypts of lieberkuhn, they have small condensed nuclei
describe the lining of the gall bladder
simple columnar epithelium, basal nuclei, short irregular microvilli, pale staining. the lining throws up lots of folds (so it can stretch).
what 3 things come out of the pancreatic acini?
HCO3-, trypsin, chymotrypsin
what stimulates the exocrine acini in the pancreas?
GASTRIN (from the pylorus), SECRETIN (from the duodenum) and CCK (from the duodenum).
