giving fiber, patient needs fluid or an obstruction can occur
Emollient Laxative
stool softener; brings little water into stool
Antacid MOA
neutralize HCL and reduce pepsin activity
Antacid Nursing considerations
TAKE 1-3 HOURS AFTER A MEAL OR BEFORE BED; avoid spicy foods; magnesium containing antacids can cause diarrhea, do not use with impaired renal function
