Gastritis
Inflammation of lining/mucosa of stomach
Epigastric pain with distention, vomiting with blood
Peptic ulcer
Loss of lining and lower esophagus, stomach, duodenum
Usually caused by infection
Abdominal pain, bloating, foul smelling feces
Diverticulitis
Inflamed diverticula
80% asymptomatic, Low abdominal pain, bloat, cramps
Appendicitis
Inflammation of vermiform appendix
Positive McBurney’s point (between umbilicus and right ASIS)
Crown’s disease
Chronic, exacerbations and remissions
25% of patients present with arthritis
Gastroesophageal reflux disease
Differentiate from MI
Sitting up minimizes reflux
Left sidelying prevents regurgitation and aspiration
Ulcerative colitis
Chronic inflammation of colon/ bowel
Diarrhea with blood and mucus, weight loss, anemia
IBS
Abnormally increased motility of intestines
Symptoms: abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, mucus
