How is gestational age calculated?

A

• Use of LMP to calculate EDD
LMP- Last menstrual period
EDD- Estimated Date of Delivery

Gestational Age by LMP is calculated from the first day of the last menstrual period. EDD by LMP is calculated by adding 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of the last menstrual period.

A

The physical maturity part of the examination is done in the first 2 hours of birth. The neuromuscular maturity examination is completed within 24 hours after delivery.
