Explain hoe the RAD reduced unemployment

A

It was a compulsory national civic service scheme. They worked a 76 hour week and drilled like soldiers. No wages were payed but the people involved were not counted as unemployed.

Six month membership was compulsory for 18-25 year old men. They helped with public works as well

A

(DAF) All trade unions were outlawed in May 1933. They were replaced with the DAF. Within 2 years there were 20 million members. They also made striking illegal.

A

(SdA) A branch of the DAF, set up to encourage workers to be proud of their work. It improved working conditions, including lighting, ventilation and noise reduction

A

(KdF) Used to improve workers free time and offer incentives for working. They provided cheap cinema tickets, sporting activities and cheap holidays. Their flagship scheme was the ‘ own your own car’ scheme. You could own a volkswagen by paying 5 marks a week.
