Why did the CDU become increasingly divided in the 1960s?
The CDU was splitting between ‘Atlanticists’ (who wanted to continue working with the west) and ‘Gaullists’ (who were prepared to work with France but wanted to shift focus of FRG cooperation to be with the GDR).
