What is uniformitarianism?
A
Physical processes that occur today occurred in the past and at similar rates.

A
A boundary between two different rock sequence representing an interval of time during which new strata were not deposited and or were eroded.

- layers undergo folding
- erosion produces a flat surface
- sea level rises and new layers of sediment accumuate

A
Erosion removes the top layer of surface, over time new sediments accumulate

- layers of sediment accumulate
- sea level drops and an erosion surface forms
- sea level rises and new sedimentary layers accumulate
