Geography Paper 3 Flashcards
What is the enquiry question for our physical fieldwork?
Is coastal management effective at Blyth?
Where did we go for our physical fieldwork?
Blyth
Why was this a suitable location?
Near (30 mins)
Groynes
What risks did we have to consider?
Weather
General public
Tides
How did we overcome the risks?
Went in summer
Supervised by teachers
How did we collect the data?
Tape measure/ruler
Every 10m
North and south side of groynes
Why did we collect it this way?
If one is higher than the other it shows the groynes were effective
What were the advantages of this method?
Simple to do
Compare and conclusions
What were the disadvantages of this method?
Human error
Broken
Was this primary or secondary?
Primary
How did we present the data?
Bar chart
Why did we present the data this way?
Easy to do
Interpret get conclusions
Advantages?
Easy to do
Interpret get conclusions
Disadvantages?
No explanation
How did we collect this data?
Orange in the sea and timed how long to travel in 10m. Inside and outside groynes
Why did we collect it this way?
If slower inside the groynes it proves they are effective
What were the advantages of this method?
Easy to do
Simple equipment needed
What were the disadvantages of this method?
Issues with stopwatch
Was this primary or secondary data?
Primary
How did we present this data?
Proportional circle map
Why did we present the data this way?
Big circle - longer time
Smaller circle - short time
Advantages?
Easy
Disadvantages?
Don’t know specifically how long it took
Explain why the chosen location was suitable
The chosen location was suitable because it was accessible, this means that it was easy to get too and it was near
Suggest why one set of data collected in your human fieldwork enquiry may not have been accurate
The data collected in the human fieldwork may not have been accurate because of the survey. This means that our opinion was biased and other people may have different opinions.
For one of your fieldwork enquires, suggest how anomalies in your data could affect your fieldwork enquiry
The anomalies in the data could affect the fieldwork enquiry because of houses shown in good light. This means that the houses may of looked better in the light than it did in darkness
Justify one data collection method used in your human geography enquiry
One data collection method used was an environmental quality survey. For example, we did this in 2 locations and added them up. This means that if you add them up and one is higher than the other, this proves inequality
Identify one potential risk in your human geography fieldwork and explain how it was reduced
One risk if general public. For example, Hendon had a high crime rate. This means that we were supervised at all times and did not get off the bus
Justify the use of the following in your human fieldwork enquiry: maps, photographs, field sketches
One way we used maps is to identify. For example, to identify burgess model zones. This means that we can see the housing inequality
Explain why the chosen location was suitable
The location was suitable because it was accessible. This means that it was close to school and near
Suggest why one set of data collected in your physical fieldwork enquiry may not have been accurate
The set of data collected in the physical fieldwork enquiry may not have been accurate because of issues with stopwatch. This means that the results may of been incorrect.
