In north-east England and Scotland.
Name 1 problem when transporting coal and iron ore?
It was expensive.
Why did people move near coalfields?
To get jobs.
What type of industry is iron and steel works?
Secondary industry.
Name some of the reasons why the best site for a factory may change over time?
The location of the raw materials may change when raw materials run out in one area.
The railways and roads needed for transport may change over time.
The number of labourers available in a town can change.
New skills may be needed as the industry progresses.
The current site of the factory may become more or less desirable as an area as time passes. (The factory owners may make more money selling the site than continuing to produce their goods).
