- salt water gets into cracks in rocks.
- water evaporates leaving salt crystals
- these expand as they absorb more water
- these create cracks in rocks and they break away
2
Q
Lowland farming vs Upland farming - how are they different
A
Lowland farming usage - crop cultivation, easier to use machinery, less harsh weather climate
Upland farming - animal grazing/cattle - harsher conditions for crops.
3
Q
What is Saltation
What is solution
What is traction
What is suspension?
A

- calcium dissolves
- boulders roll
- sand grains carried

What is a wave cut platform?
A
- Point of erosion at the bottom of a cliff from waves
- Sloping rocky area left by continual wave erosion and cliff collapse.
5
Q
THREE ways in which change in climate can affect cliff retreat
A
- Increased wave energy in extreme weather conditions/ storms
- Increased rain fall - destabilising cliffs
- Freeze/thaw cycles.
6
Q
Concordant coastline?
Discordant coastline?
A
- Different rock types (resistant and less resistant) run parallel to the coastline
- Run perpendicular to the coastline
7
Q
What case study is concordant?
Which case study is discordant?

- Swanage Bay - hard rock headlands either side of it
