1
Q
What is a gorge
A
a narrow valley between hills or mountains, typically with steep rocky walls and a stream running through it.
2
Q
How changes in land uses affect river processes?
A
- Deforestation leads to more runoff - more prone to flooding
- More impermeable surfaces such as concrete and pavement also leads to more runoff, increasing erosion - channels can widen.
3
Q
How can agriculture affect river processes?
A
- Soil erosion - more soil and sediment from fields into the rivers
- ## compacted soil from machinery - more runoff
4
Q
How is a glacial trough formed? THREE
A
- Starts as a V shaped valley formed by a river
- Glacier moves downhill and erodes the sides by plucking and abrasion
- Wider becomes wider and deeper, forming a U shape.

A
When a glacier removes rocks from the sides of a valley
