A

Coastal management is there for a number of reasons. To build up beaches and to protect peoples land. For example Groyns can be used to trap sediment and build up the beach.

A

People who live close to the coastline could open shops bringing tourist to the beach and lettering it. Also, land could be eroded away because its near a coastline and property could be lost

How is Swanage coastline being affected by physical processes (geology, discordant, headlands/bays, erosion/deposition)?

A

Today, Swanage has 1.8km of coastal defence works, mainly concrete or stone sea walls and timber groynes. The sea wall and groynes to the south of the bay were put in place in the late nineteenth century. Further coastal defence works were added in the 1920s
