Geography 4.2 Flashcards
Compare the weathering that is found in the uplands and lowlands
Freez thaw in upland and plucking in lowland glacial processes.
Compare the soil/rock movement processes in the uplands and lowlands.
There is rock creep
Compare misfit rivers and dry valleys
Glaciers cut distinctive U-shaped valleys, with a flat floor and steep sides. The glacier uses the processes of plucking and abrasion to widen, steepen, deepen and smooth ‘V’-shaped river valleys into a ‘U’ shape.
A misfit stream is a river that is either too large or too small to have eroded the valley or cave passage in which it flows.
Explain how glaciers have affected both landscapes
Upland landscapes have steep large drops whereas lowland have misfit rivers and are very flat
Ways humans have effected upland landscapes
People build animal farms and separate the land with dry rock barriers. Not crop farms because they dint grow. It is mainly rocky but trees grow there,
Ways humans have effected lowland landscapes
People settle on lowland landscapes. They build homes and grow crops here which effects the landscape allot. Land borders are made with rock or hedge barriers
Which has been the most effected by humans
Lowland landscapes have been most effected by humans because most people live on lowland landscapes.
