A

A

Between key peninsula and McNeil island, connects drayton passage and Carr inlet. It is obstructed about midway of its length by Pitt island and it’s surrounding rocks and shoals

Small and wooded near the middle of Balch pass. Marked on its N end by a light. A state park

A

Between key peninsula and Anderson island about 3 miles long in a N direction. N end connects to with Pitt pass and balch pass. S end joins W part of Nisqually reach

A

On mainland about 9miles SSW of pt. D. ferry terminal with services to ketron and Anderson island.

Ketron Island

A

Just W of steilacoom. Small and narrow island which is privately owned. Heavily wooded with bluff shore. Large gravel pit and pier extending out from shore just SE of the island on mainland

Nisqually reach

A

Trends S and W around Anderson island. S shore is occupied for nearly 1 mile offshore by Nisqually flats, the delta formed by Nisqually river. The flats are soft mud and bare at low water. Two lights mark the N edge of the flats.

Anderson island

A

Just south of McNeil island separate by balch pass to the north and Nisqually reach to the S. Wooded and serviced by Steilacoom ferry. Lyle pt on S tip is marked by a light

Devils head

A

S point on key peninsula, 280ft tall and heavily wooded. Marked by a light off it’s south tip

Johnson pt

A

2 miles W of devils head, 90ft high and marked by a light off the sand spot at end of the point

Itsami ledge
Cover 1 fathom lies 1 mile WSW of Johnson pt. Surrounded by kelp and marked by a light. A danger when entering Henderson inlet or Dana pass

Henderson inlet
Locally known as South Bay, immediately W of Johnson pt. Extends 4.5miles south. South part of inlet is mud flats

Case inlet
Popular sport fishing and resort area. Extends 14miles N from Johnson pt.

Harstine island
Large island about 8miles long. Separated by Pickering pass on the N, case inlet to the E, Dana pass on S and Peale pass to the west. Briscoe pt on a tip marked by a light

Herron island
NW side of key peninsula. Private island with mooring for small craft. Ferry service from mainland at Herron village

On East side of harstine island and connected by sand spit which bares at low water

Pickering passage
N side of harstine island. About 8 miles long in S direction connecting case Inlet and Peale pass. Fixed highway bridge at graham pt with 31ft vert cl.

Peale passage
About 4 miles long extends. Nw between harstine island and squaxin island

Dana passage
Between briscoe pt and mainland. About 2 miles long. Main route to budd inlet and Olympia

Boston harbor
A village in the cove of the same name just E of dofflemyer pt. Has a marina with 100 berths

Budd inlet
Large inlets extending S after Dana passage to Olympia . About 6 miles long. Entrance is between cooper pt and dofflemyer

Just W of harstine island. Long narrow wooded island about 4.5 miles long. Indian reservation.

Just W I’d squaxin island. Small wooded island that is a marine state park

Steamboat island
Small island covered in private homes. Connected to Carolyn beach on mainland by roadway on piling. Has abrupt shore and heavily wooded. NW tip marked by daybeacon
