Treatment
Most strains produce beta-lactamases which destroys penicillins
Reported resistance to: TMP/SMX, clindamycin and tetracycline
Susceptible to: fluoroquinolones, most 2nd & 3rd generation cepholosporins, erythromycin and amoxicillin-clavulanate
Microbiological diagnosis
Culture:
Chocolate agar: smooth greyish/white colonies
- when colonies are pushed with loop, they “scoot” across media
Biochemical tests: oxidase positive

Fastidious
Oxidase positive
