Purpose is to evoke change
Usually ridicules some human folly or vice by exaggerating to the point of ridiculousness.
Offers the viewer no solution to the problem
Exposes the problem with humanity or society, but leaves the audience to decide how to correct it on its own
Has a serious, dark edge to it
Meant to make the audience uncomfortable with its own hypocrisy.
