A film genre is a stylistic or thematic category for motion pictures based on similarities either in the narrative elements, aesthetic approach, or the emotional response to the film
Characteristics of genre
(its game-like nature, with recurring character types [similar to the positions on a team] and narrative situations [similar to the plays in a game]
setting, characters, plot, mood, tone, and theme
Iconography of a genre
Iconography represents the macro elements of a film genre. Which an audience may use to help narrow down the exact genre convention of the film. This includes things like the props and costumes that the film uses. Which would be representative of a particular genre convention
