Testes?
Nourish and promote development of sperm, produce testosterone, located in the scrotum (outside the pelvic cavity)

Coat sperm with protein to make them non-motile, this coating is taken off once in the vagina

Prostatic + penile; carries semen as well as urine outside the body
Seminal gland?
Contribute to semen volume
What do the seminal glands secrete and why?
Fructose to give energy to sperm, prostaglandins, fibrinogen to coagulate semen
Prostate gland?
Inferior to and around the neck of the bladder, encapsulated, secretes prostatic fluid, encompasses the prostatic urethra
Bulbourethral gland?
At the base of the penis, secretes pre-ejaculate

Digital rectal exam -> can be palpated through the rectum.
When do you get a digital rectal exam and what will it feel like if you have a problem?
annually over 50 yrs; will feel nodular and enlarged if there is a problem
