What are the features of A1 blockers in prostate/ how do they work/ what do they do?
-inhibit A1 receptors in prostate gland which relaxes smooth muscle and improves urine flow and incontinence. There is a first dose effect so BP drops with 1st dose
What are features of 5-alpha reductase inhibitors/ how they work/ what they do?
Inhibit conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which decreases size of prostate gland and improves urine flow
