-no proof transferred from objects like pools toilet seats
COURSE
flue like illness>crop of blisters>burst after 24 hours>from painful ulcers>from scab and heal within fw days>1st attack painful about 2 weeks
RECURRENCE
-after 1st attack the virus in nerves of affected skin>50 percent recurr>but successive episodes become milder and less painful and eventually disappear.
-triggerred by intercurse, masturbation,stress
-in pregnancy nasty problem
mx
-no cure but can be treated effectively
-rest relax, warm baths
-antiviral cream if at start, betadine lotion
-ice packs, hot compress
-pain relief: pcm, said
-if urination painful: pass in warm water
-keep sore dry: alcohol swab, hairdryer
-leave ulcer alone after clean and dry
-wear lose clothes
-antiviral drug in beginning acyclovir 5days
IX FOR STI
-hsv confirmed by viral testing
-swab oral genitla for chlamydia and other
-hiv screening
preventiom
-can be avoided only by avoiding sexual contact during an attack
-use condoms
-wash your genitals ater intercourse
-inform your partner
