what are genes?
Genes are components of DNA that carry our genetic information. These Are stored in units called chromosomes which are condensed form of DNA and protein. Genes determine how we will look such as pigment color of our eye and color of our hair. They play an important role in how we physically will look and other traits of ours.
Relation to protein?
Every gene is given specific and unique type of information that is basically a recipe of how a specific type of protein can be made. Whereas proteins control our traits they can determine and change how the color of our hair will look. This information is coded into Our segment of DNA, They are also made so our cells can use them.
What genes do male get and what genes do female get?
Female get 2 X’s which are identical chromosomes whereas for males they get one chromosome of X and one chromosome of Y. Since men only have one X they only get one copy of the chromosome of x.
How are characteristics determined by genes
Every nucleus has 23 pairs of chromosomes. Every cell has the same copy of DNA. Our traits are determined by one or more Genes and the abnormal genes also leave traits behind. The abnormal genes are made by genetic mutations. Genes vary in size and shape depending on what function or protein they serve.
